The Association
Apollo traveled across the sky with a royal chariot pulled by four winged horses (Pyroid, Eoo, Etone and Flegone) whose names echoed in the hemisphere evoking flames and light. The Flegone cultural association, a non-profit organization, was founded in Messina in 2024 by the will of Guglielmo Falanga and his sons, the "EREDI MF", with the task of protecting, promoting and disseminating the artistic work of Michele Falanga (1865 - 1937), poet, man of letters, painter, historical witness of the events that marked Sicily and Italy as a whole in the first half of the 20th century.

Michael Falanga
Born in 1865 in Bagnara Calabra (RC). In 1879 he moved with his mother to Messina. The disastrous earthquake that hit the city in 1908 involved him directly. His culture and in-depth knowledge of the dynamics of the city pushed him to devote himself in an almost spasmodic manner to writing; he created prose texts, poems and short poems. He was repeatedly called upon to write articles regarding political and social events for periodicals of the time. The outbreak of the First World War dragged him into war propaganda, making him personally participate in patriotic demonstrations. Influenced by the authoritarian fascist regime, he tried his hand at visual art from the 1920s until his death, creating his creations mostly on “poor” supports, such as sheets of old magazines and newspapers that became a blank canvas for him to fill. He died in Messina in 1937.

Autentiche

The issue of the aforementioned certification of authenticity is subject to the payment of a contribution of € 150.00 which must be recognized regardless of the outcome of the study of the work in question. It is specified that no opinion will be issued before the payment due and the subsequent examination of the work. The authentication procedure will be communicated upon request by email.

Our mission is to promote culture and art through unique and engaging experiences, creating unforgettable moments for all participants. Archiving
The Flegone association, in synergy with the MF heirs, has started a work of ordering and cataloging all the "material" left by the artist upon his death in 1937. To this end, it was decided to work on the creation of a "place" for the study, conservation, acquisition and scientific cataloging of not only the literary and visual creations of Maestro Falanga but also of all the documentation (written and photographic) relating to his life. The study and archiving of the pictorial and literary works are also aimed at the creation and production of the artist's first general catalogue. The contribution for the archiving of the pictorial works has been agreed at €200.00 and includes a free copy of the 1st volume of the general catalogue which will be produced subsequently. In this regard, it is specified that only works already provided with authentication or for which a request for authentication has been made with a favorable outcome can be archived. The archiving procedure will be communicated upon request, by email.

The membership fee for the year 2025 has been agreed at €32.00 (calendar year).
